What did we do it for?

4ever friends took  the 100k challenge to raise money for Oxfam and the Gurkha Welfare Trust.

Money raised for Oxfam through Trailwalker will help them support people in each of the three areas in which they work:
  • emergency response and disaster relief (eg. flooding in Pakistan);
  • longer term development project; and
  • changes in politics that will make the world safer and fairer for everyone.

Money raised for the Gurkha Welfare Trust (GWT) through Trailwalker is directly funding projects across Nepal to help the Gurkhas, their families and communities.

In 2011 the Gurkha Welfare Trust will use funds raised at Trailwalker to provide clean, safe drinking water and sanitation facilities in 80 Gurkhas villages.

Just before the event started, nearly £700,000 had been raised by those taking part and, by the time all the money is collected, the organisers hope that over £1 million will be raised.
